Welcome to Beautiful Minds: Where Engineering Meets High-Performance Teamwork

There was a specific moment when the idea started for Beautiful Minds. I can remember it clearly. Standing in the middle of the office with a frustrated project manager. He became an engineer to design and build excellent structures. The reality was red tape and scrapping over contracts. He said, “These projects work so well if we get on with each other, but they fall apart when we don’t.”
To this point, I’d thought leadership was the answer. But I knew there was more, I just couldn’t quite put my finger on it. This comment brought clarity to what I’d been wondering about. Technical issues and individual leadership weren’t the biggest blockers to success. It was human collaboration.
Let me tell you a story to illustrate this. One of my first team coaching jobs was to coach a team who had just delivered a hugely successful, award-winning project. It had come in on time, on budget and delivered additional benefits to the communities it served, which had delighted the client.
Its success had largely hinged on the relationship between two individuals – the client director and project director. They sat together pretty well every day in co located offices and navigated all the difficult decisions and commercial questions that the project presented. It worked perfectly.
The team were about to start phase 2. They had big ambitions, unsurprisingly. The project director had other responsibilities to attend to and the client director wanted to empower their number two. The relationships across the team were not as strong now and needed significant uphill and continuing work to navigate the project.
There is no judgement here (and there never is), just compassion for great people doing their best in complex and demanding project environments. What we learned is that there is a need to deeply strengthen collaborative relationships across the whole team system. To seek out the collaboration points, understand the purpose of the team and the blockers to success and work on those – as a team.
The responsibility cannot sit on individual leader’s shoulders. The world we work in needs a broader view, a team view. And one that includes all the teams involved.

The responsibility can not sit on individual leader’s shoulders. The world we work in needs a broader view, a team view. And one that includes all the teams involved.
Why Beautiful Minds?
Beautiful Minds was started to fulfil that need.
Our vision is connecting people to solve the world’s biggest challenges. We don’t just help teams work better - we unlock the collaborative power that drives society-changing infrastructure. Your teams are building the future. We coach leadership teams to communicate, align, and thrive - so that your people can tackle the most complex projects with clarity, cohesion, and purpose.
Our mission is to bring leadership teams together to collaborate meaningfully, unlock potential, and deliver exceptional results - through world-class team coaching rooted in deep industry expertise.
We believe that engineering and infrastructure projects are not just technical feats - they are human endeavours. Behind every bridge, tunnel, hospital, or housing development is a team of people navigating complexity, pressure, and ambition. Beautiful Minds exists to support those people.
We are values-led. That means we bring compassion, curiosity, and courage to every engagement. We listen deeply. We challenge constructively. We hold space for the difficult conversations that unlock real progress. And we do it all with a deep respect for the sector and the people in it.
Why Now?
We are living in a time of unprecedented challenge and opportunity. Climate change, ageing infrastructure, rapid urbanisation, and the push for innovation are reshaping the built environment. These challenges demand not just technical excellence, but extraordinary collaboration.
The projects of today - and tomorrow - are more complex, more interdependent, and more urgent than ever before. They require teams that can think systemically, act cohesively, and adapt rapidly. They require trust, alignment, and shared purpose across organisations, disciplines, and geographies.
And yet, too often, we see teams struggling. Miscommunication, siloed thinking, and misaligned incentives can derail even the most promising initiatives. The cost is not just financial - it’s human. Burnout, frustration, and missed potential are all too common.
That’s why Beautiful Minds exists. Because we believe that when teams thrive, projects thrive. And when projects thrive, society benefits.
The Power of High-Performance Teamwork
Team coaching is not just a service we offer; it's what our industry needs. It’s about creating a space where teams can explore their dynamics, understand their strengths, and address their challenges. It’s about fostering an environment where the team can think clearly about the unique value they can create for their clients and beyond. One of the most rewarding aspects of team coaching is witnessing the transformation that occurs when a team moves from functioning to flourishing. It’s seeing the lightbulb moments when team members realize the power of their collective potential and emerge stronger and more united.
Our Approach
At Beautiful Minds, our approach to team coaching is holistic and tailored. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every team is unique, and so is our coaching. We start by understanding your team’s context, goals, and challenges. We then design a coaching program that aligns with your needs and aspirations. Our coaching is grounded in the principles of psychological safety, trust, and collaboration. We create a safe space for open and honest conversations. We encourage teams to embrace vulnerability, take risks, and learn from failures. We help teams build trust through consistent and transparent communication.
Success Stories of High-Performance Teamwork
We’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible teams and witnessing their journeys of transformation. Here are a few success stories:Our successful track-record includes:
Working in collaboration with Graham Mortimore, Oliver Hawes and Terry Sadler to support Mott MacDonald’s Water and Environment divisions during a period of intense development and growth. The Water Division leadership team has advanced from a group of talented leaders to a high performing and energised leadership team, leading to a further intentional transformation into two divisions. The Environment, Nature and Consents Division has built a highly collaborative, decisive and purposeful Executive Team. Targeted team coaching has subsequently incorporated a ‘team of teams’ approach, enjoying the benefits of a greater depth of joint strategic and operational understanding and leadership.
Providing ongoing group and 1:1 coaching for the senior leadership team responsible for delivering Victoria North, the North of England’s largest urban regeneration project. Honor and Ffion coached and supported this leadership team to establish a collaborative environment that actively sought and welcomed open conversations with the wider stakeholder team.
Devising a team connection and interview training programme for a multidisciplinary team bidding for the 2024 FA 1980 Asset, Capital & Engineering Professional Services Tender. Once the team had successfully secured a place on all six available LOTS of this strategically significant framework, Beautiful Minds supported the mobilisation process to create a productive ‘one team’ environment for Mott MacDonald and the wider supplier leadership team.

A Personal Note
I started Beautiful Minds because I care deeply about this sector and the people in it. I’ve seen the brilliance, the dedication, and the heart that engineers and project leaders bring to their work. I’ve also seen the toll it can take when collaboration breaks down.
My passion is helping teams find their rhythm, their purpose, and their power. Because when that happens, when people truly connect and align, extraordinary things become possible. I know because the hairs on the backs of my arms stand on end, the excitement is palpable.
Thank you for being here. I’m so glad you’ve found us. Let’s build something beautiful together
